Prospective students
I am always interested in talking to prospective students and I encourage you to send me a letter or e-mail stating your interests and attach a copy of your CV or resume.
I look for bright, energetic and committed students with a passion for their particular area of research. All of my students are grant funded and I am generally able to accept about one student per year. Thus, positions are competitive and strong GPA, GRE’s, and letters of recommendation are typically required. Many students in my lab have been successful in wining competitive fellowships.  For full consideration for MSU-sponsored fellowships, full applications are required to the Department of Entomology by December 15 for admission the following fall. For other deadlines (EPA STAR and NSF pre-doctoral) see the individual agency websites. My current students are a great source of information about the lab and I encourage you to contact them for more information. – Doug.

Undergraduate research
I occasionally post opportunities for undergraduate research on MSU's Venture page, or you can contact me directly.  We begin interviewing undergraduate research assistants for summer work in February each year.  For details, contact my lab manager, Julia Perrone.
